Boom. The day begins at 11 with a rehearsed retrieval of magnesium supplements and paracetamol. A good night of sleep it was not - there are no breakfasts of champions for those who have yet again chosen to stomach a bowling ball-for-head Saturday.

Hello.

As is tradition, the thing formerly at the back of my mind has been steadily making its way up to the front again, so here I am; long overdue, as always. With zero discipline, getting things done in a manner not too dissimilar to writing a response to an email you should’ve sent months ago.

memdump #05: annual balloon day.

First up, I’m managing. Not doing exactly well, but good enough to still be able to switch to autopilot and ‘it is what it is’ my way through for the foreseeable future, stable.

The other day I got up, turned on the news, and lost my marbles in a dimension I had, up until now, presumed non-existent.

You know, I’m starting to think some people may not have been all that stoked about Christmas this time around.

The other day, I impulsively tried putting a candle out with a hair dryer while peaking 5 g of Tchibo Gold Selection.

I’m starting to learn that happiness is an active effort, rather than something that just occurs when all the variables are set right. You never notice it when it’s there, but after it’s gone you’re like “I think that was it, shoulda noticed.”

Hello.

I don’t know how to start these.

This may or may not have something to do with the fact that you were supposed to get about five different versions of this one at various points last year or so. Truth is, I haven’t really actively worked on any personal projects in over two years. If you are seeing these words, however, I have managed to at least put together a couple of paragraphs explaining both what has been and hasn’t been going on. So there’s that.

Here goes…

Rambling long overdue.

Hello friends (and possibly enemies).

Some of you might have noticed that things have been a bit quiet around here lately, which is pretty much the opposite of what my last post hinted at. Needless to say, that’s not what I’d originally planned. To put it shortly, I’ve been busy. Amongst other things. Sorta.

New website launched!

Welcome, everyone!
After several months of work, I am happy to finally present to you my brand new website!

More than 4 years after the launch of its 2nd version, I figured it was time to finally ditch Tumblr and switch to something more professional. Following a fair amount of research, I chose the static site generator known as Jekyll for the task, as it allowed me complete freedom while also taking care of almost all of the boring stuff at the same time. The theme you see is a heavily modified version of the wonderful Hydeout because sidebars rock if you keep them responsive. Whether or not hundreds of lines of my questionable CSS made it better or worse is up to you to decide. I, personally, am satisfied with the result.

I believe this fresh format will let me share the various types of my work in the most efficient and prettiest way possible (to date, at least) - even without a CMS, thanks to Jekyll (seriously, check it out guys, it’s great). Oh, and I can post properly formatted written content now, which is definitely a plus. Maybe I’ll finally get around to typing up a few tutorials and post-mortems.

To make this all possible, I also had to solve a number of issues related to automatic conversion of media assets, gallery generation, image captioning, etc. The resulting extremely fine-tuned Bash scripts (yes, really), as well as a more detailed technical write-up should be available in a week or so.

Of course, some content might still be missing and the CSS gets wonky here and there, but all of these issues and more will hopefully get ironed out in the near future as I gather feedback.

I’m still on the fence when it comes to enabling Disqus comments, but I’ll be more than happy to hear your thoughts on the redesign on Twitter or via email.
